Charles Lee, private of Company H of the 39th Regiment of New York Infantry (Garibaldi Guards). He enlisted in December 1863 when the company was organized from recruits (the original German, Hungarian, Swiss, Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese companies recruited for three years in 1861 were discharged in June 1864).
